BCC’s LLQP courses now run on ReadyEngine™, our readiness intelligence platform. Here’s what’s new, who it’s for, and how it works.
Key takeaways
- BCC’s full LLQP lineup, Common Law, Civil Code, Accident & Sickness, the A&S Top-Up, and the standalone Ethics modules, now runs on ReadyEngine™.
- ReadyRating™ is a live readiness score from 1 to 5. Reach Level 4 before you book your exam. At Level 5, your prep is backed by the Pass Guarantee.
- Office Hours are an optional add-on for the LLQP Common Law and Civil Code courses: live sessions twice a week, delivered in English with bilingual support, with subject matter expert Noreen Féquière.
- On ReadyEngine’s first deployment, in Alberta real estate licensing through Relo.ca, 97% of learners passed.
- Certification exams come first. Once you pass, BCC updates your CIPR record so you can register for your provincial licensing exam.
The LLQP hasn’t changed. How you prepare for it just did.
Getting your life licence still means passing the certification exams across the same modules: Life Insurance, Accident & Sickness, Segregated Funds and Annuities, and Ethics and Professional Practice. What’s new is the platform underneath your LLQP. Business Career College has moved its full LLQP lineup onto ReadyEngine™, and it answers the one question every candidate is really asking the night before exam day. Am I ready to pass?
You can find it at businesscareercollege.com/insurance/llqp/
What’s new in BCC’s LLQP
The whole LLQP lineup now runs on ReadyEngine™, so you can pick the path that matches where you want to practise:
- The LLQP Common Law course prepares you for life and health licensing everywhere in Canada except Quebec.
- The LLQP Civil Code course does the same for Quebec, under the AMF framework.
- The Accident & Sickness courses are for advisors who want to specialise in health and disability coverage, with a clear path to upgrade later.
- The A&S Top-Up adds the Life Insurance and Segregated Funds modules for advisors who already hold an A&S licence and want the full LLQP.
- The standalone Ethics & Professional Practice modules let licensed advisors move between Common Law provinces and Quebec.
Prefer a real person alongside the platform? Office Hours are available as an add-on at checkout for the LLQP Common Law and Civil Code courses. They run twice a week, delivered in English with bilingual support, with Noreen Féquière, our subject matter expert, who has been guiding insurance candidates since 2006. She shares some of that hard-won advice in this blog post for women entering financial services.
If you’re still deciding which course fits, our guide to choosing between the Life, A&S, and Ethics modules walks through it.
Why we rebuilt LLQP prep
Traditional study materials hand every candidate the same content in the same order. That ignores how differently people actually arrive at the LLQP.
Some are brand new to insurance, often switching careers. They need a clear map of what each module tests and a trustworthy signal that the hours are paying off. Others already work in financial services and are adding a licence. They understand the products. What they’re short on is time, and the last thing they need is to sit through fundamentals they teach their own clients.
Then there are A&S specialists who want to start focused and broaden later, advisors crossing between Quebec and the rest of Canada who only need to bridge the Ethics requirement, and newcomers to Canada who bring real experience but are studying complex material in a second language. For that last group, Riley, the in-platform AI study assistant, can explain any concept in their strongest language and bring them back to English for exam day.
And some candidates have written before and come up short. They don’t need to be told to study harder. They need to know exactly what didn’t land so the next attempt is deliberate. Our guide on what happens if you fail the LLQP covers the retake rules, and ReadyEngine™ is built to fix the underlying gap rather than repeat the same review.
One more thing worth naming. A wave of new providers are generating exam content with AI. Volume is not the same as mastery. BCC’s content is developed by a team of learning professionals and industry subject matter experts with direct experience in Canadian financial services. Every lesson, question, and explanation is grounded in the regulatory environment, the exam expectations, and what it takes to pass. ReadyEngine™ personalizes your path through that content. It doesn’t write it.
How ReadyEngine™ works
ReadyEngine™ starts with an assessment to find out where you actually stand, then shapes your study plan around the gaps that matter for your modules. You’re not marching through a fixed sequence from page one. You’re working on what you still need.
Your ReadyRating™ is a live readiness score from 1 to 5. It isn’t a progress bar or a count of finished lessons. It’s a composite measure drawn from what you’ve mastered, how steadily you’re performing, your pacing, and how well the material is sticking, and it’s designed so a single good session can’t inflate it. We recommend reaching Level 4 before you book your exam. Reach Level 5 and your prep is backed by our Pass Guarantee. Write the exam at Level 5, and if you don’t pass, we refund your course fee.
Riley is available across the platform whenever you’re stuck. The Concept Mastery Tracker shows where your understanding is solid and where it isn’t. Adaptive quizzes reinforce the right material at the right time, and full mock exams get you ready for real conditions. Your ReadyRating™ and full study plan unlock when you enrol.
How well does BCC’s LLQP prep perform?
BCC has trained Canadian financial services professionals since 1997, and the results on our traditional platform already run ahead of the national average. On first attempt pass rates for the most recent reporting year, BCC learners hit 85% on Life Insurance against a 75% national average, 91% on Accident & Sickness against 78%, 88% on Segregated Funds against 76%, and 85% on Ethics (Common Law) against 78%. Those figures come from CISRO’s (opens in a new tab) first attempt pass rate data for May 2025 to April 2026, and they reflect our traditional learning platform.
ReadyEngine™ is what raises the bar further. The platform was built by We Know Training, originally engineered for CPA exam preparation, one of the toughest professional designations in North America. It was first deployed in Alberta real estate licensing through Relo.ca, where 97% of learners passed. First-attempt rates rose 15 points and time to complete dropped from 120 days to 36. Same engine, new exam, proven results.
For firms and MGAs
Every failed exam costs a firm more than the exam fee. It delays a new advisor’s start, stalls production, and ties up a supervisor’s time. The hard part has always been knowing who’s genuinely ready before they sit.
ReadyEngine™ gives firms a live ReadyRating™ for every sponsored candidate, so you can see who’s on track and who needs support without chasing anyone for an update. You can buy licences in bulk, assign courses in a few clicks, and keep exam integrity locked down with built-in identity verification and secure proctoring. If your firm or MGA is onboarding advisors this year, book a firm demo and we’ll walk you through it.
That verification has a name: LearnerVerified Plus. It’s built into every certification exam we deliver, so there’s nothing for your recruits to book and nothing for your team to run. Government photo ID is checked when a candidate creates their account and again before each exam unlocks. The session is recorded and monitored, and anything flagged is reviewed by a proctor before the result stands, so no one is passed or failed by an algorithm alone. The record stays on file. It matters because every advisor you license carries your name, and the certification exam is the one checkpoint between a recruit and a licensed advisor representing you. When your recruit passes, the person who earned it is the person you hired.
What’s available now
The LLQP Common Law and Civil Code courses, the A&S courses, the A&S Top-Up, and the standalone Ethics modules are all live on ReadyEngine™ today. Office Hours are available as an add-on.
Currently, the GLQP and PQAP are not available on ReadyEngine™ and remain on our traditional learning platform.
If you have an exam ahead of you, or you’re onboarding advisors and want prep that replaces guesswork with evidence, start at businesscareercollege.com/insurance/llqp/.
Already studying with BCC? Here’s what this means for you
If you’re partway through an LLQP course on our traditional learning platform, your access hasn’t changed. If you registered before the switch, you keep your full 12 months from your registration date to finish, and your progress, certification exams, and Office Hours (where included) carry on exactly as before.
The one thing we can’t do is move an in-progress course onto ReadyEngine™, because there’s no clean way to carry your progress across. So, you’ll keep going right where you are, with learner support on hand for any questions about the course, the exams, or what comes next. For the full details, see our platform update for current learners.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the LLQP?
The Life Licence Qualification Program is the mandatory pre-licensing education for anyone who wants to sell life and health insurance in Canada. It covers Life Insurance, Accident & Sickness, Segregated Funds and Annuities, and Ethics and Professional Practice. You pass the certification exams before applying for your provincial licence.
What’s the difference between the Common Law and Civil Code courses?
The Common Law course qualifies you to practise everywhere in Canada except Quebec. The Civil Code course is built for Quebec’s framework and prepares you for AMF licensing. If you plan to work in both, you complete the base course for one and add the matching Ethics module for the other. Our module guide explains how the pieces fit.
Do I need the full LLQP, or can I start with Accident & Sickness?
Both are options. The full LLQP licenses you for life and health insurance. The A&S course is a focused, lower-cost route for advisors who want to specialise in health and disability coverage. If you start with A&S and later want the full licence, the A&S Top-Up adds only the Life and Segregated Funds modules. Our A&S exam guide goes deeper on that module.
What is ReadyEngine™ and how does it work?
ReadyEngine™ is BCC’s readiness intelligence platform. It assesses where you stand, builds a study plan around your actual gaps, and produces a live ReadyRating™ that tells you when you’re ready to book. It adapts every session to your performance. It’s not a question bank or a static guide. It’s a data-driven read on whether you’re prepared to pass.
What is the ReadyRating™ and how does the Pass Guarantee work?
Your ReadyRating™ is a live score from 1 to 5 based on demonstrated mastery, pacing, and retention. We recommend reaching Level 4 before you book. At Level 5, the Pass Guarantee applies: write your exam at Level 5, and if you don’t pass, we refund your course fee. Your ReadyRating™ unlocks when you enrol in a paid course.
What are Office Hours, and are they included?
Office Hours are an optional add-on for the LLQP Common Law and Civil Code courses. They are live sessions twice a week, delivered in English with bilingual support, with instructor and subject matter expert Noreen Féquière, who has guided insurance candidates since 2006. You can add them to your course at checkout.
I’m already enrolled in an LLQP course. Does the switch to ReadyEngine™ affect me?
No. If you registered before the switch, your access hasn’t changed. You keep your full 12 months from your registration date, and your progress, certification exams, and Office Hours (where included) continue as before. See our platform update for current learners for the full details.
Can I move my current course onto ReadyEngine™?
No. In-progress courses cannot be migrated, because there’s no clean way to carry your progress across. You finish on the platform you started on, with learner support on hand throughout. More detail is on our platform update for current learners.
How long do I have to finish my current LLQP course?
You have 12 months from your registration date. Log in to check the time you have left and map out a schedule that gets you finished with room to spare. Full details are on our platform update for current learners.
How can I avoid common LLQP mistakes?
Preparation habits matter as much as content. Our breakdown of the top 10 LLQP exam mistakes covers the ones that trip up the most candidates, and ReadyEngine™ is designed to surface those gaps before exam day rather than after.
Is BCC’s LLQP recognized by provincial regulators?
Yes. BCC is an approved LLQP provider under the framework coordinated by CISRO (opens in a new tab), the umbrella body for Canada’s provincial and territorial insurance regulators. After you pass your certification exams, BCC updates your CIPR record so you can register for your provincial licensing exam through your provincial insurance council or regulator.
Are BCC’s online LLQP certification exams proctored?
Yes. Every BCC certification exam includes LearnerVerified Plus, identity verification and proctoring built into the exam. A candidate’s government photo ID is checked when they create their account and again before each exam, and the session is recorded and reviewed by a proctor before the result stands. For firms, it means a recruit’s certification pass is verified, not assumed, with a record kept on file. See how it works.
Do candidates have to schedule or travel for proctoring?
No. LearnerVerified Plus is part of the exam itself, so there are no test centres, bookings, or scheduled proctor windows. Candidates write from home, in their own time zone, and verification adds minutes to an exam rather than days to a licensing timeline.
